Neon tetras are schooling fish that feel most secure in groups of 6 or more. They are peaceful and spend most of their time swimming in the middle level of the tank. Their colors are most vibrant when they feel safe in a well-planted aquarium.
Reproduction
Breeding requires soft, acidic water and dim lighting. Females scatter eggs among plants, and parents should be removed as they may eat the eggs. Eggs hatch in about 24 hours.
