Oscars are highly intelligent and develop strong personalities. They are aggressive and territorial, especially when breeding. They produce large amounts of waste and need powerful filtration.

Reproduction

Pairs form strong bonds and clean flat surfaces for spawning. Females lay 1000-3000 eggs which both parents guard aggressively. Fry become free-swimming in about a week.
